First sale of a share within 3 months of starting out?
Yeah u got that right..it is sad as I really thought ARCP would be a great buy earlier in september 2014. I do hope sales like this wont happen that often. Eventhough im a big buy-and-hold long term investor with a long time horizon I dont want to waste money like this anymore.
Transactions
The transactions I did with this company were :
4 shares @ $12,30 each for a total of $49,20 on 23/09/2014 16 shares @ $7,71 each for a total of $123,36 on 17/12/2014 20 shares @ $8,08 each for a total of $161,60 on 19/12/2014
My total loss is 20 shares of American Realty Capital Properties Inc. (ARCP) for $8,08 per share.
Overview
American Realty Capital Inc in short (ARCP) is an Investment company that buys and operates high class commerical real estate.
Changing Fundamentals
It might not be much of a loss compared to other Dividend Growth Investors like Jason on dividendmantra.com that sold American Realty Capital aswell, but as this was my first ever investment its quite sad… really But on the other hand im just so lucky that I didnt have that much money sunk into that fragile company of an ARCP. I honestly believe theres better places where my money can be like big players #BBL or #JNJ even #MACD would be appropriate .
A few reasons why I would sell a stock : The stocks good fundamentals are changed to worse and the stock’s dividend would be eliminated/lowered or not been raised for 3 years. That would be 2 reasons why I would be selling a stock and this big fundamental change of the stock that has grown a bigger and bigger problem the last couple of months is THE reason for me to sell. I’ve cut my losses to buy 16 shares for $7,71 each to recoup some of my losses as I know that with all the rentchecks that are being payed its way more then just $7,71 a share.
Conclusion
My first planted seed was squashed away by all the happenings over at the headquarters of American Realty Capital. I want to sleep well at night and with the constant news banging around day in day out I decidend to remove it from my garden.
Some of the news I can list over here is that the dividend would be safe and seemed like it didnt stay as it is currently suspended and will be ” in line with its industry peers” I laughed it out loud when the CEO David Kay, president the COO,CFO,CAO, former CEO and the executive chairman over the past few months were ALL dismissed from the company.
How can a company function well if events like these keep on happening? As company’s need to be shareholdersfriendly in my point of view it just kept on ruining the shareprice and the company as a whole.
The sale of ARCP will reduce all my future monthly income of $1,40. My annual income will be reduced by $16,80
What are your thoughts of this company ? Have you ever experienced such a dramatic company?
